This backyard started as open grass behind the house. The crew framed a timber border, filled it with a level gravel base and set the posts for a privacy fence.
The hot tub went in on the new base, and the fence went up around it with lattice along the top. Then came a curved patio of gray pavers with tumbled stone edging, wooden steps up to the sliding door and a shade sail overhead.
With plants, string lights and a bistro table in the corner, it is a private spot to soak a few steps from the back door.
